Face Of The Day #1

Excuse the fluffy eyebrows - I'm growing them out!

So this is my first FOTD so I apologise if its crappy! I am so excited to get my first FOTD up on my blog, I'm literally smiling from ear to ear - weird I know but its a big step for me because I'm so nervous to put my face on the internet for the world to see in case of judgement and all of that but I am overcoming my nervousness and just doing it! A lot of these products I got recently so I'm still busy testing them out and will do a full review on each of them soon. Now to get down to the actual post.

Products used:
Catrice Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner
Avon Extra Lasting Concealer Stick in Medium Deep
Catrice Infinite Matt Make Up in 010 Light Biege
Essence Sun Club Matte Brunette Bronzer
Catrice Defining Blush in peach
Catrice Prime and Fine Highlighting Powder
Essence Eyeshadow in Blockbuster
NYX Eyeshadow Palette The Runway Collection
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
Catrice Eyebrow Stylist
Rimmel Kate Lipstick in 103
Eyelash Curler and various brushes

Basic Process:
I use the Catrice Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner on my nose, chin, cheeks and eyelids and under my eyes. I find those places need more priming done than other places on my face. I use my fingers and pat it on.
I apply the Avon Extra Lasting Concealer Stick under my eyes and on any red places or places that need touch ups. Its very creamy and covers quite well. I then use my Cala concealer brush to blend it in everywhere.
Next is the Catrice Infinite Matt Make Up which I apply with my hands and then blend it in with a sponge and then buff it in circular motions with my Kabuki brush. The sponge is very much like the Beauty Blender just not as great and not as expensive.
I then run my brush lightly through the Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzer and tap off excess powder and apply it in the "hollows" of my cheeks (just under the cheek bone) and blend it in. I also apply bronzer just under my chin and from my temples and in my hairline. You have to blend in very well otherwise you'll look odd.
I then lightly again run my brush through the Catrice Defining Blush (and I really mean lightly because you'll come out looking way too pink...) and apply it on my cheek bones. I usually leave it only on my cheek bones but I spread it out to the apples of my cheeks today because I'm looking a bit pale today as I'm not feeling well but usually its just applied on my cheek bones.
I then take the Catrice Prime and Fine Highlighting Powder and apply it to the tops of my cheek bones, down my nose and on my cupids bow. This really helps to make your face glow.
For my eyes I use the Essence Eyeshadow in Blockbuster as a base for my eyeshadow. It's a really light, creamy colour that evens out the eyes.
I used the NYX palette for my look and I used gold and pink for my whole eye and blended it in well. I then used a semi grey-brown colour in the creases of my eyes to define them a bit.
I use my eyelash curler to curl my lashes and then used one coat of the Maybelline Great Lash mascara because I wanted my lashes to look long and curled but natural.
I then use my Catrice Prime and Fine Highlighting Powder and put it in the inner corner of my eye to make my eyes look wide awake and bright. I use my Essence smoky eye brush in circular motions to blend in the highlighter and my eyeshadow.
I use my Catrice Brow Stylist to fill in and shape my brows as my eyebrows have gone funny lately and they are so messy and gappy so I'm growing them out and going for a wax to get them back.
Lastly I apply a balm and then some Rimmel Kate lipstick to finish the look.

So that's my look for today and mainly everyday, its very simple and doesn't require a ton of products although it looks like a lot, its not really. I like a very natural, barely there look that allows my freckles to still show through.

Do you do a similar look? What's your everyday makeup?

What's On My Nails #4 // Vamp It Up

Avon Speed Dry+30 in Vamp It Up - R87.95.

This nail polish is a very dark red colour, like red wine. I love this colour as a true red doesn't suit me at all but dark reds do. I must say I wasn't expecting much from this nail polish, I usually trust high end nail polishes more (even though this nail polish is as expensive as a high end nail polish anyways). One coat literally dries in 30 seconds, no word of a lie and the colour is the colour you see in the bottle with two coats. The pictures make it look almost streaky and patchy but when you look at them "in real life" its a solid colourand its a cream finish like most nail polishes. It's really lovely to apply as it spreads so easy and you don't need a lot on your brush. The nice thing is that you can apply it slowly without having to rush in fear of the nail polish drying before you've covered your whole nail because it's very "liquidy" if that makes sense? It's not sticky or too thick, its just right. I tested how long it lasts and without a top coat it lasts two days which isn't too bad and with a top coat it lasts about four to five days, thats a bonus for me because I take my nail polish off eventually during that time frame whether its chipped or not. I really like this nail polish even though I think the normal price is just a little too expensive since it doesn't last very long without a top coat and I see this month its on offer for just R50 (which is more suitable) and I'm tempted to get Swift Sherbet and Smoky Plumes added to my collection although I'm having doubts about Smoky Plumes (its a greyish purple colour but I'm not sure if it'll suit my skin)! Oh and its also worth a mention that these nail polishes contain volcanic rock so that it hardens nails and allows nails to dry quicker.

Mothers Day

For Mothers Day yesterday we all went to my sister's place and we had stir fry for a lunch. My mother was spoilt rotten as she deserved to be. My sister and I went to this shop called Poetry and the sell everything there, from bath milk to candles to scarves and clothes and even pretty door knobs. I got my mom the Frangipani Bath Milk - R130 - and I can still smell the fragrance in the bathroom and she used it yesterday morning. My mom loves floral, woody scents and Frangipani is a very floral smell. I'm not sure if this moisturises your skin or anything but I'll use a little bit some time and do a review. I also got her a pearl bracelet from Poetry. My moms been looking a bracelet lately so I thought it was perfect for her. Next I went to my favourite store Dischem - you should all know that one! I got her three nail polishes as shes been saying that she wants more pinky nude nail polishes. I got her Essie Mademoiselle, a perfect sheer pink that can be used for a french manicure - my moms already got Essie on! She loves Essie! The other two nail polishes are from Catrice Cosmetics in the shades Don't Tell Mademoiselle and Bonjour Cherie. Don't Tell Mademoiselle is a pinky nude colour while Bonjour Cherie is a proper nude, with these nail polishes they say you can make a classic french manicure with them. Lastly I got her some mint chocolates because she loves her mint and who doesn't like being given chocolate on a special day? My sister got her the Frangipani Body Butter and soap. My mom says the body butter is so thick and great for winter!

What did you get your mom?

I had to add these shoes in that I wore on Mothers Day. They're minty blue pumps with small, spiky studs on them. I like that the studs don't look too hardcore or anything, these shoes still manage to look girly and pretty. I'm still in the process of wearing them in so they do hurt my feet a little bit but otherwise they are very comfy shoes and look great with all outfits! I'm thinking maybe I should start doing some fashion pieces for my blog too...? What do you think?

April Favourites

Happy Monday everyone and I hope you all have a good week! Also, a happy mothers day to all the mom's out there for yesterday, I hope you got spoilt rotten! Today this post will be on my favourites in April. Sorry that this post is about 13 days late, I had completely forgotten about doing my April favourites and my favourites were a complete mix of everything!

Anyways my favourites this month are: Bioderma Sensibo H2O; The Body Shop Shea Sugar Body Scrub; Dove Intensive Repair Daily Treatment Conditioner; Essence Sun Club Brunettes Bronzer; Rimmel Kate 05 lipstick; Woolworths Lip and Cheek Tint in Cherry Cherry; Catrice Cosmetics Nail Lacquer in All I Can Blue; Avon ColorTrend Nail Varnish in Mint Ice; Catrice Cosmetics Fresh Skin Make Up and Venus Pro Skin Moisture Rich Razors.

I have mentioned Bioderma so many times on my blog that I think it's obvious that I really like love this product! You need the tiniest amount to remove all traces of makeup and to make your skin look healthier.

The Body Shop Shea Sugar Body Scrub is a must have in all seasons. It exfoliates your skin to get rid of all dead skin cells and it moistures your skin too because of the oils, the smell lasts forever on  your skin and your bathroom smells amazing afterwards.

The Dove Intensive Repair Daily Treatment Conditioner is one flipping amazing product and I couldn't believe I hadn't done a seperate post on this before! This conditioner is so thick and moisturising and it leaves the ends of hair looking and feeling smoother. It is basically like a hair mask/treatment but it works in the time of a conditioner and it really does. I leave this in my hair for about 5 minutes and then rinse it out and my hair feels completely different post wash. Just be careful to put it by your roots as it can make it oily.

Essence Sun Club Brunettes Bronzer is such a good bronzer, It doesn't make your skin look muddy or over shimmery. Its a matte bronzer that is made to suit your skin judging by the colour of your hair. I love the fact that its matte - I really don't suit shimmery bronzers - its also not overly dark or too light its that perfect colour for my skin. Just lightly swipe your brush through and tap the excess powder off and you're good to go.

The Rimmel Kate lipstick in 05 - need I say more? Its such a beautiful lipstick. It applies smoothly and evenly and all the colours are great and suitable for everyone. I'm sold on this product and have even bought more this past weekend.

The Woolworths Lip and Cheek tint in Cherry Cherry made it onto my favourites. It really does work for both lips and cheeks and gives your cheeks a healthy, rosey pop of colour on your cheeks. Its very creamy and applies smoothly. I just keep it between my hands to warm up for a while and dab it on my cheeks and then brush in in in circular motions and you're good to go. Your lips need a lip balm before applying it otherwise it doesn't apply very smoohtly but otherwise it gives a light cherry colour.

Catrice Nail Lacquer in All I Can Blue and Avon ColorTrend Nail Varnish in Mint Ice are my two favourite nail polishes for April. They both apply very nicely althought the ColorTrend one you have to put three coats on otherwise it is very streaky and not bright enough. The Catrice nail polish last for about 4 days while the ColorTrend lasts for about 3 days.

Catrice Cosmetics Fresh Skin Make Up is easy to apply. Its like a tinted moisturiser that offers a little bit more coverage, its oil free but still gives your skin the hydration it needs and lasts about 6 hours.

Last but not least is the Venus Pro Skin Mositure Rich Razors. Now if you knew me properly you'd know that my two pet hates are washing my hair and shaving. I hate washing my hair because my hair is just so difficult sometimes and I hate shaving because its just so time consuming. That's when my sister told me to get these babies. They have like a soapy, shaving gel attached to the razor so that you don't have to apply shaving cream or soap to your legs, your just dip your razor in water and start shaving - perfect for the classic lazy girl like me! The best bit is once your shaving gel bar is finished it doesn't mean you have to throw your razor away because the blades are still sharp but you do have to apply some shaving cream though...

So thats my favourites for April and sorry that its so late!

Have you tried any of these products? What have made it onto your April favourites list?
