Ahh the Revlon BB Cream. Revlon and BB cream? I'm there. I love Revlon products and I love BB creams so for me this was love at first sight and I just had to get it. It took me a long time though because I couldn't ever find my colour and I finally got it and boy was I excited!
I don't think I have particularly bad skin, although the past two weeks would tell you different story. A few blemishes, redness and dullness but thats about it so I never feel the need to go for a foundation because I don't really like that heavy coverage and lately I've literally just been wearing concealer on blemishes and under my eyes. BB creams are right up my street because they cover, make skin appear dewy, primes and evens out the skin. Lets admit it, BB creams claim a lot of things and not all companies can really deliever, apart from that Garnier BB cream for oily and combination skin that I love so much. So I wasn't expecting a lot from this but wow.

Revlon BB cream - R169.90 - claims to prime, hydrate, blur imperfections, mattifies and protect with an spf of 30. The spf 30 freaked me out a bit because of the ghostly white face in flash photos but honestly this actually doesn't have that ghost face appearance. Big ups to Revlon for that one! The formula is very thick and creamy when applied and it smoothes over my skin so well. Its quite sheer and it seems like you haven't put enough product on but I find it settles and offers coverage as the day goes on. Its long lasting and makes my skin look glowing, fresh and dewy while still matte, blemishes are covered although concealer needs to be popped on.

The shade variety is not wide at all. They only have four shades and I have the lightest shade in Light. The tube is thin so when you pack your makeup bag it'll take no space up at all. I really actually love this BB cream because the coverage is light enough for me, the shade matches my skin tone perfectly, my skin looks dewy but matte and it looks so lovely and natural. I think this is such an underrated product. If you love a sheer light base, this is for you. You can see what this look like on my skin in this FOTD post.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-63238841964845868902014-03-05T15:23:00.000+02:002014-03-06T09:55:45.470+02:00Midweek Mender | Me Time

There are just days when all I want to do is crawl up into bed with candles, Vampire Diaries and hot chocolate - even on hot days - and those days are usually during the middle of the week. Sometimes I just feel like Wednesdays are just as bad as Mondays are. By Wednesday I am frazzled, over worked, tired, grumpy, the list could go on. By midweek our (or just mine?) stress levels are at their most ‘I need a chocolate bar or this is not going to be pretty’-est, causing cortisol levels to rise which can lead to the skin’s strength to weaken and oxygen flow to diminish and you just feel down right moody and horrible. A prescription to hump day blues? A good chillax’.
I'm in the process of moving so boxes are crowding my room and things are packed up. It's been a very stressful week thus far, from moving to work being stressful and overloaded and having an assignment due (which I haven't even started on I might add...) so this "me time" is sorely needed. Putting on a great smelling candle like the one I had which is Vanilla Cookie. It smells so much like a vanilla cupcake - and yes I've wanted to eat it at times - this fills my whole room with this heavenly smell and puts me in an instant good mood, relaxation at its best. I fix myself a cuppa frothy hot chocolate, lie on my bed and read a good book till my hot chocolate is at an end. Another great way to perk myself up and feel better is by popping on a brightening mask or a proper cleaning mask. For this purpose, because of how <strike>shit</strike> horrible I was feeling, I decided to use this new Dirty Works Detox Mask from Clicks. This instantly makes my skin feel clean and fresh from all toxins, makeup and whatever else and it smells devine!

Personally I love a good candle, book and mask or a warm bubble bath for a pick me up. What you do for your Midweek Mender is ultimately up to you. I could have a midweek me time pick me up every day if I could. What do you think of a "Me Time" series?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-38834985705293677092014-02-27T09:43:00.000+02:002014-02-28T10:01:07.770+02:00February Favourites

In the blink of an eye another month has flown by and once again we all say the cliché "I can't believe how fast this month has gone by". Cliché or not, its a saying that oozes with truth. Tomorrow is March and I still relive New Years 2014 like it was yesterday, yet its the third month of the year already and technically the beginning of Autumn in the South (even though the heat says something different). So while I reminisce, here are my favourites from February to keep you occupied in the "here and now"...

The LUSH Rehab shampoo is something that I did I review on about 2 weeks ago so you can read my full review here. Basically I havem't put this down. It cleans my hair thoroughly without stripping it and it smells great. My hair literally reaps the benefits all day long with this miracle shampoo.

The Catrice mascara is one which I used in this FOTD, so you can see what my lashes looked like with this baby in action. I've used this everyday since I got it and I love that it makes my lashes look full, long and fluttery and that's a plus in my book.

Another review that I did this month was about the Barbara Hofmann Foundation Brush that wasn't quite meant to be a foundation brush... you can read my review here. I have used this every single day and its now in desperate need of a wash.

Finally a review I haven't done, although I was meant to post it in January already as its sitting in my draft folder, is the Labello Lip Butters. None leave any colour on the lips so if you need moisture with your lipstick; this has you covered. For me this serioudly brings it with some intense moisture and it lasts quite a while, but did not last the classic tea drinking test. Its easy to apply, although being in a tin and having to apply it using your finger leaves you with an awkward messy finger situation and where to wipe it off (sneakily wipes it on the persons jersey sitting next to you...). I really love these babies and I'm sure they'll serve me well in the winter times.

Hope you all have a lovely March and I thought I'd let you know, that as you can see I haven't been posting all that much. I'm experiencing writers block and I have no idea what to write sometimes. I actually blame my organisation skills so I've started sitting down almost every night and coming up with ideas and key words about upcoming posts. Thats my March goal so heres to hoping! If theres anything specific you want to see or if you come up with a good blog post series; drop me an email or feel free to comment! I'd love (need!) some input. So I've recently acquired a few more beauty products that I'm currently testing out. I have half and half formed opnions already about a few of the products but I'd prefer to test them out a little bit longer to forma completley solid opnion. I did notice that I forgot one skincare product off this list but I'll be sure to mention it in this post anyways.
First up is the Stila In The Light eyeshadow palette, which is pure love at first sight but I haven't had a chance to test out all the colours available in the palette but I'm nearly there. Next is the L'Oreal CC Cream for dull skin, I've used this quite a few times mixed with different BB creams and foundations but haven;t yet tried it out on its own - I'm waiting for a good skin day to try that out. Another face product is the Revlon Photoready BB Cream in light, I want to try this out a few more times before I do a review but so far so good.

The two cheek products are firstly the Maybelline Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin, I've only heard good things about this cream to powder blush and I'm still not 100% sure about this. I'm kind of in the middle with this product but it feels beautiful. Last but not least is the Avon Glow Illuminating Bronzer Duo in Light Bronze. I only just got this product in the beginning of this week but so far so good with the illuminating powder although I haven't yet tried the bronzer. I'm going out this weekend so I'll be sure to do the whole contouring, highlighter thang with this product. I have high hopes for this product so I pray I'm not disappointed.

The product not pictured here (silly me) is the Garnier Pure Active Exfo-Brusher Wash. Something along the lines on a cheaper, non electronic Clarisonic that you squeeze face wash out the bottle and onto the brush itself and exfoliate your skin with the gentle brush. So far its quite good, a few hiccups I have with it though especially with the brush, but now I'm used to the brush now I'm letting the face wash work its magic (hopefully).Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-9575018308279956252014-02-19T08:23:00.000+02:002014-02-19T08:52:17.559+02:00FOTD #6

Now I know my FOTD's usually look pretty similar but I really enjoy doing FOTD's, especially when I'm using one or two new products that I'd love to tell you about. I'm still really into the minimalist look at the moment, I think its classic, easy, quick and very pretty for a day time look. I won't lie even if I go out at night I don't wear all that much more makeup but I do my eyes a bit darker and throw in some bronzer and highlighter.
I've been trying out the Revlon Photoready BB Cream in 010 Light - R159.90. At first I thought it might look too light for my skin but once its blended in, its the perfect match. I then use the Revlon Colourstay Blemish Concealer in Fair - R69.95, on all my blemishes and dot it under my eyes and blend it in. Next is the Rimmel Powder Blush in Coral - R79.95. I use this very lightly over my cheeks and this gives the slightest coral shimmer. I love it and you can see how often I use it. Next is my eyebrows and for this I use the Avon Glimmersticks Brow Definer in Dark Brown - R49.99 (on special). I think this is very underrated, for a pencil it looks natural on me and the colour matches my eyebrows perfectly, which has been so hard for me to find because most are usually too dark or too light. Onto the eyes, I used the Stila In The Light palette - R395 (last time I checked on Rubybox). I got this as a birthday present from my sister and I have literally not put this down once. I used the shade "Bare" all over my eyes and then on the lid I used the shade "Kitten" which is a lovely shimmery champagne colour and my most used colour out of the palette. For mascara I used the Catrice Better Than False Lashes Volume Mascara (something like Maybelline?) - R79. I must say I've been loving it. It gives the right amount of length, volume and flare to my usually short, stubby and thin lashes. Lastly I used the Labello HydroCare lipice mainly because my lips have been dry and flaky because of my recent bout of flu and the like, and whatever colour I put on my lips highlighted that, so I thought it wise to leave that off. Although I could've used some colour looking at the pictures but rather not.

The Barbara Hofmann Foundation Brush is something that I bought without much investigation into the brand. It just looked like a very impressive stand of makeup brushes at Dischem and I've been looking for a buffing foundation brush for a while, so my impulsive self threw it into my shopping bag without much thought.

Firstly the site is in German, leading me to believe its made in Germany (obvious much?). So my research stopped where I couldn't understand it. It was such a cheap brush compared to others - only costing R169.90. I love that the brush and handle look classy because of the silver and clear handle (can a brush look classy?). Its quite densely packed, full of soft bristles but I believe it could work and buff better if the bristles weren't as long cause it tends to bend around a lot because of the length.

To be honest I don't think it did my foundation any justice, it was quite hard to blend and I found it took a long time to actually spread and blend out. I also found that in the end my foundation actually came off due to me trying to blend it and buff it into my skin. It was strenuous work for me and we all know I'm lazy. BUT for concealer!! My friends, my concealer and this brush are best friends. I don't know why I can't use foundation and this brush together, possibly because its too small for my face, but concealer blending is just a dream. I dot the concealer where needed (on spots and under my eyes) I just buff and blend this in in circular motions and wow. The finished look is airbrushed and it blends into my foundation and skin like you wouldn't believe.
You don't need as much concealer as you would without using this because of how this brush blends, spreads and buffs the concealer in. I wish I could make this work for my foundation but I've tried it a few times and this morning before I wrote this post, but alas it was not meant to be. Maybe if the bristles were shorter and if the brush itself was a bit bigger?.. Still super impressed though.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-61215384053753321772014-02-12T15:19:00.000+02:002014-02-13T10:10:35.512+02:00LUSH Rehab Shampoo

In November sometime I ordered from LUSH and got a few things like soap and a face wash and two hair products, one of them being the Rehab shampoo - R85. This has got to be my most used and most favoured products from LUSH that I've ordered. It works so well and my hair feels and smells better than ever.
Its quite a small tube and at first I thought it would be finished within a couple months since I use a lot of shampoo, but you use a little bit in the palm of your hand, and boy does this stuff spread and lather up. Its quite runny in texture and so be careful when you first use this because you tend to squeeze hard and then a lot more product comes out than you intended.

I can't even describe the smell to you, its smells very herby like rosemary and such, the scent lingers in my hair for a while. LUSH scents tend to be a love or hate relationship and for me this scent is pure love. My mom also really enjoys it and I ask her to smell it every time I use this.

Speaking of, I use this nearly every week mainly because I tend to use a lot of conditioner, hair masks and sprays in my hair, which leaves a lot of residue and can make my hair limp and oily. This acts as a clarifying shampoo, although its not as harsh or stripping as some clarifying shampoos, I think because it contains olive and jojoba oils which is said to restore hair. It cleans my hair to the next level because of the enzymic papaya, leaving it clean of all past products and pollution from the air and it soothes my scalp because of the almond oil that it contains which conditions my hair. Rehab shampoo is definitely for damaged hair that literally needs some rehab and TLC.

Once I've used this my hair feels full of life, soft and clean. It gives my hair a bit of a bounce and fullness to it and my hair looks and feels healthier. Sunday nights are now my favourite Rehab nights...Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-14360348902217563352014-02-06T14:42:00.001+02:002014-02-06T14:44:14.982+02:00My Birthday Wishlist

Exactly a week from today will be my birthday. The big 20! I'm not really too phased about it if I'm honest, So many friends are so excited for me and ask if I'm excited.. I'm really not. I think I'll be more excited for my 21st but anyways that being said, I thought I'd do something fun and make a short but sweet wishlist for all the things I want for my birthday. Now theres no point in this really, since I know my family have already bought my presents but nevertheless, I thought it would be nice for those of who you are struggling with ideas on what to ask for if you're a February baby too. Also I guess this could be used as a cheeky Valentines Day wishlist, hey? Direct the boyfriends here!

So the first month of 2014 has come and nearly gone. January has got to be the longest month ever. It drags so bad, mainly because January is the month that everyone is a little bit more broke than they'd like to admit. For some odd reason, even though January is a time for new beginnings and a new start, I never really have liked January all that much. Last year I never did a December Favourites post so a lot of these products are mainly December's favourites with literally a few products being the favourites for January (no money month - what can I say? I never bought a lot.)

So starting with hair is the Dove Colour Radiance Leave In Conditioning and Care Spray - R64 from Dischem. I spray this into wet hair and blow dry as normal and this leaves my hair so conditioned, soft and healthy. This proctects your hair from the harmful UV rays that can fade your hair colour, so I concentrate on the top of my head by my roots since thats where the sun is most likely to hit. This smells great and its very lightweight misting spray - although be careful to not use too much as it can make your hair oilier quicker. Next hair product is the Schartzkopt Gliss Ultimate Repair Anti-Damage Mask - R69. Wow this stuff is super amazing. My hair is very dry and damaged but strangely I can't use very heavily conditioning conditioners or masks because my hair gets oily then (go figure!), but this mask is very thick but weightless and it smells great too, it leaves that lingering scent on your hair. I've been using this since about the end of November and my hair has never felt more soft and healthy. My hair is super shiny too, almost glossy and I'm pretty sure its thanks to this. I've used so many different products for my hair and not one has worked as well as this stuff has. I'm interested in trying out more of the Ultimate Repair range and I'm pretty sure my hair will be the bomb.

Skincare wise I've chosen the Clean & Clear Quick Clear Spot Gel - R47 from Clicks, which I featured in my Evening Skincare post so you can check there for a more in depth review. But I really do love this product. Gets rid of pimples in about 3 days and helps with swelling and redness of the pimple. It contains Salicylic Acid which helps to shed dead skin cells and it helps to dissolve the bits of skin that causes your pores to clog. It also encourages skin renewal. My skin really loves Salicylic Acid.

Onto base products is the Catrice Photo Finish 18h liquid foundation in Light Biege - R49 from Dischem. This foundation contains no SPF so its great to wear at night when you're going out because when photo's are taken there'll be no ghost faces. Its quite thick for a liquid foundation, its almost mousse like but thinner and without a primer or cream on your skin before hand, it will be hard to apply. I actually put a dollop in my hands, rub it together and spread it over my face like a cream and then blend it in - I find for me that's the easiest way. But it covers very well, I'd say medium to full coverage and definitely buildable, and when buffed into the skin and blended well it gives off a very airbrushed look. Very impressed with this foundation (like I am with all Catrice products) and its my night time staple. Next base products would be the L'Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream for Anti-Dullness - R169 from Clicks. I love this CC cream and apply it underneath my base of choice. It's a purple, mauve colour which helps with the yellow, swallow tones that makes your skin lack-lustre and its a liquid formula that is really easy to work into the skin. It moisturises and gives my skin that radiant glow that I'm always after.

My other favourite face product is the Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder. I'm not quite sure how much it was - I literally <strike>swept it nicely into my basket</strike> grabbed it but I did get it from Dischem, that much I did notice. With a light dusting of this powder, all your shiny areas will remain matte for quite a while and your makeup also stays in place and doesn't slip anywhere - great for a night out with the girls.

3 eye products I've chosen will be firstly the Riri Loves Mac Her Cocoa Palette - R350. Well HELLO, what did you expect! You can read my review and looks here. Ah its so beautiful, I sometimes open it just to stare at it. Next eyeshadow product is the Rimmel ScandalEyes Crayon in Bulletproof Beige - another one of those products that I grabbed not bothering to check the price. I love these crayons, they're so creamy, pigmented and soft and very easy to blend. I've been loving the one wash eyeshadow colour thang lately and this just makes me happy that its made that look so easy to do. My mascara favourites has got to be the Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Flare Mascara - R119. I love that this lasts a long time and my eyelashes look long, thick and fluttery thanks to the flare effect. I reach for this every day and I don't think my love affair with this will end.

Last but not least is the Avon Amour perfume - R159 (special). By no means is this the best perfume in the world but the smell is gorgeous, its a very floral and feminine scent and I am all about floral scents because they're natural. It doesn't last very long either but the smell is enough to make me alright about that. I can safely say that it's been my Spring/Summer fragrance.

I can't wait for February to come as its the month of "love", mine, my sisters and my dads birthdays and hopefully new beauty products to try.

Lately I've been sporting a very bare but polished look. I haven't been in the mood to go all out on my makeup but I don't feel comfortable going too bare. To be honest I'm really digging this minimalist look. Its very simple and I'm done with makeup in 5 minutes (okay 7 or 8 minutes...).

For the base I obviously first just put my normal day cream on and follow with the Garnier BB cream in light. I really love this stuff. It covers very well but it looks natural because my freckles show through and it looks dewy but matte at the same time. Its love. And while we on the topic of bases, I recently purchased the L'oreal CC cream, the anti dullness one, and wow! It makes my skin glow and it works so well with this Garnier BB cream and the Rimmel 9 in 1 BB cream. Full review shall come soon when I've used it a few more times and experimented, and I'll try get my hands on the anti fatigue one too.

For concealer I chose the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Fair. I chose this because it works really well with dark circles and blemishes so its a must have product. For my cheeks I used the Essence Silky Touch Blush in 10 Adorable. Its a beautiful baby pink that just gives a subtle, light touch of colour to my cheeks.

For my eyes I used the Rimmel ScandalEyes crayon in Bulletproof Beige all over my lid and in the inner corners of my eyes. This is so creamy and easy to use and adds a subtle wash of colour. I'm all about the one wash colour on my eyes at the moment. For mascara I used the Maybelline Falsies Volume Express to give my lashes that fluttery look. I leave my lips bare and I just use a balm.

And thats that.

Last week I did a post on my morning skincare routine, which you can read here, it is quite a basic routine. Today I'll share my evening skincare routine, which is the one that I enjoy best. It is also quite basic, I've seen so many evening skincare routines that have 101 products in it. I'd get so confused, I like things simple. So without further ado here it is.

First up I remove any makeup with my usual makeup remover, being the Bioderma Sensibo H2O. I then wet my face with water and wash it thoroughly with the Dove Beauty Cream Bar. I mentioned this in my Skin Saviours post here so you can check up there with more details about it, but basically I know we not supposed to use soap but I find this moisturises my skin while leaving it clean, soft and clear.

Next I've been using The Body Shop Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash for a bit of a skin buffer. This buffs the skin so well and gets rid of all dead skin because it has tiny apricot seeds in it in a creamy, green mixture. It's not too rough but I find it doesn't get rid of blackheads all that well but I still love it as it clears my skin and exfoliates very well without stripping the skin. I'm onto my second bottle of this and will soon be on my third. I alternate this between the Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2 in 1 Wash and Mask. I generally use this when my skin is suffering from blemishes. It's a white, creamy, clay-ey texture that doesn't strip the skin and leaves a tingly sensation on your face. I find this really has been contributing to how my skin has been looking lately. I have few blemishes and I think it is thanks to this. I love that you can use this as a mask too, and this mask works so well when blemishes are angry looking and/or just as preventative for future blemishes. It doesn't dry out the skin and leaves my skin feeling, clear, clean, soft and refreshed.

To tone my skin I use the Bioderma Sebium. I tried using this as a makeup remover and while it does remove makeup, I don't find it works as well as the Sensibo water does. That said I like to use this after I've washed my face and wipe it everywhere with a good dosing of this on a cotton pad. Its very refreshing and gets rid of excess dirt that cleanser may not have removed. This also helps those pesky oil glands from producing too much oil which in turn causes blemishes.

For moisturising I have since changed my trusty Bioderma AI cream for the Eucerin Dermo Purifyer Hydrating Care Cream - I know, I was shocked too! I find this really does work. It has a very chemist cream smell to it which I'm not too fond of but what the heck, eh? This really has helped control my oil and it mattifies my skin very nicely. This helps so well when my skin goes through a crazy breakout phase. I'm actually thinking about investing more into the Dermo Purifyer range aimed at combo/oily skin.

The last step finally is the Clean & Clear Quick Clear Spot Gel. Oh. My. Gosh. I cannot tell you how well this stuff has worked for me. I bought it last year in November sometime and I felt it didn't work for me, so I left it in my drawer till January this year and wow do I regret the time I have wasted. This doesn't get rid of pimples immediately but once applied directly onto the spot (it dries clear) the next morning when I wake up, I find that the swelling of the pimple has gone down including the redness, if the pimple is caught early enough I find that the pimple disappears after about 3 days of applying this, and the best part?? The pimple does not turn into a "head", it gradually disappears. I apply it every night and if necessary every morning until it vanishes. This is great stuff I tell you!

I find that this routine really has helped my skin with my problematic oil production and blemishes. Of course I do still get blemishes but with this routine I am convinced that all blemishes I do get are strictly hormonal pimples and are beyond my control.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-65366964195915330312014-01-15T09:55:00.000+02:002014-01-15T09:55:44.782+02:00Morning Skincare

One of the things I hate, other than shaving, washing and styling my hair, is washing my face in the morning. I have no idea why, I think its just because I'm a lazy person and also not one of the best morning people either but washing your face in the morning to me is essential so all morning complaints aside, I thought I'd share with you my no fuss morning skincare routine.

First up is The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool and Creamy Wash. I like to use a creamy wash in the mornings because I feel like my skin gets too tight if I use any other face wash thats not creamy. Plus it bangs in a little bit of quick moisture into the skin without making my skin oily during the course of the day. This is very refreshing because of the tea tree and it really helps my skin with blemishes. I wash this off with warm water and a face cloth.

I then tone my skin with the Clarins Daily Energizer Wake Up Booster. This contains some healthy ingredients like green coffee which recharges your skin to make it radiant and awake, red currant extract which mositurises and white tea extract which protects against free radicals and prevents environmental damage. This is so refreshing, definitely feels like it wakes up my skin and moisturises.

I've added in two creams here which I swap between each other as my skin needs it. They are the Clarins Daily Energizer Lotion and The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion. I generally always use the Clarins Lotion as it contains SPF 15 and it moisturises without making my skin oily during the day and brightens my skin making it appear radiant, glowing and soft . I use The Body Shop Tea Tree lotion for those days when my skin is suffering from blemishes. This clears my skin over time and helps mattify my skin. My skin soaks this stuff up by the gallon.

I don't really switch up my morning routine as the seasons change because I feel like this works for both summer and winter because it helps get my skin glowing and clear of blemished. This routine is also refreshing and who wouldn't want a bit of that every morning?!

I'm 10 days late but better now than never. I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Just a quick update, I have pretty much been silent since Christmas, I decided to take a break for a short while as I've been so exhausted this past year. Looking back 2013 had good things but majority was bad things for me, so you can imagine how keen I am for a clean slate in the year 2014! 2014 is going to be a busy and hopefully great year filled with studying teaching, my sisters wedding and just having fun and being positive (I have a nasty habit of being negative so you can count that as my new years resolution number 1.) Anyways things here on Dimples & Beauty will go back to normal come Monday - get excited! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

We staying at home for a Christmas lunch so I didn't need to go over bored but still need to look presentable for photos. I chose the beloved Garnier BB cream as my base and dabbed on some Revlon ColourStay Blemish Concealer for any red imperfections. I used the Rimmel Blush in Coral for a peachy pop to my cheeks without looking overboard. For my eyes I used my RiRi Loves Mac Her Cocoa Palette and just used the peachy base shade on the right top side all over my lid and ever so lightly dabbed my brush in to the bottom left hand side colour in my crease for a subtle definition. Added some lashings of Maybelline Great Lash mascara to my lashes and that was me done.

What do you think of this look? Tried any of these products and what products did you use for your Christmas look? Let me know! Have a blessed and safe Christmas!♥Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-61614006353630648162013-12-24T14:06:00.000+02:002013-12-24T14:06:56.253+02:00Currently Loving

I've seen posts like this for a while going around so I thought it would be quite a fun thing to do. This weeks favourite loves are:

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturiser - R65. This stuff is amazing for a gradual, natural tan that moisturises at the same time. It also doesn't smell like normal self tan, like all Palmer's products it has a chocolate smell to it that lasts for quite a while.

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Permenant Taupe - R95. I've been reaching for this a lot lately. Its a great if you just want one sweep of colour on your lids that literally lasts for a long time and if you don't have enough time in the morning for a whole eyeshadow routine. It doesn't budge at all and the colour is a perfect brownish grey. I keep looking for On and On Bronze but it is never in stock no matter what shop I go to.

Bioderma Sebium Exfoliating Purifying Gel - R169. I use this every second night for a thorough exfoliating, cleanse. It cleans my skin and pores and leaves my skin so soft and feels refreshed. The ingredients help with spots and blackheads. Definitely repurchasing this again.

Shield Clinical Protection Anti Perspirant - R22 (I think). Best anti perspirant I've used yet, although a bit pricey for roll-on but its quality stuff. It smells pretty and fresh and its almost creamy so it mositurises too and I don't sweat at all when I use this stuff. A little goes a long way.

Avon ColourBliss Lipstick in Soft Berry - R25 (on special). When I first saw this it looked pretty scary because it was purple. But on the lips its a lot more sheer and moisturising. Its such a hard colour to describe especially once applied but I've reached for it a lot lately so it had to make the list.

I thought I'd show you what all I ordered and get you excited (hopefully) about reviews on each one of them soon.
LUSH R&B Hair Moisturiser - R180

LUSH Rehab Shampoo - R75 (out of stock now)

I got the Rehab shampoo and R&B hair moisturiser because my hair really needs some TLC. My hair is dry and the frizz is ridiculous so I'm hoping that these products do the trick. I've also spied the LUSH Jasmin and Henna Fluff Ease conditioner and I think the next order I put in, that will be on the top of my list. I've also heard a lot of good stuff about the LUSH Ocean Salt facial scrub and I've been suffering from bumpy skin and nothing is helping so I'm hoping this will help in the long run. I've never heard of the Miranda soap before but because of all the good stuff thats in it I thought I should give it a whirl and wow it smells devine and lasts for quite a while on the skin.

Sometime in the new year I will be reviewing these seperately once I've had a good proper test out of all of them. You can check out the new South African online site here in the meantime and maybe write out a cheeky list of what you'd like to see under that Christmas tree from family or your man.. delievery is quite quick so it shouldn't be too late.

So I will be the first one to say that I do not have perfect skin. In fact mine has a few bumps, pimples and redness and its just oh so annoying. Now in summer my skin gets a hell of a lot worse in my opnion, because of the sweat and oil build up (eww). I have a few not-so-secretive-secrets that I use almost daily to keep my skin in check and makes my skin feel cleaner.
1. Soap... yes soap. Now I know we're not supposed to use soap on our face as it dries it out but honestly the Dove Beauty Cream Bar (sounds fancy, non?) is a little miracle bar of soap. I tend to use this only in summer as thats when my skin is much oiler. I find this does mattify my skin and it dries out pimples and makes them dissappear. Dove also uses a 1/4 moisturising cream in their soap so thats why its not as drying as regular soap, yip I've done a lot of advert watching to know that fact! I trust a lot of Dove products and I know this won't damage my skin. Its all about knowing your skin. If you know your skin won't have any bad reactions to using soap then by all means give it a go, if you're not 100% sure maybe skip this routine.

2. Toner. This isn't much of a secret as most people do use toner as their second step but I know I used to skip toner because I didn't think it was necessary as do a lot of other people. If you have oily or combination skin toner should be a must. It gets rid of excess oil or sweat on your skin which causes pimples and bumps under the skin and cleans your skin on a different level. It also gets rid of excess cleanser that you may not have washed off properly. I find that toner (my one of choice is Eucerin Dermato Clean Clarifying Toner) has helped with excess oil and it makes my skin feel cleaner. Completely up to you if you want to use toner or not but for me its a great help.

3. Mixing two creams together. I don't know if this sounds odd but just go with it... at night I use two creams on my skin, namely The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion and my beloved Bioderma AI Intensive Care Cream (no I will not stop raving about this just yet!). They both moisturise and help with blemishes so its double the power. Again this is completely optional but it does make a difference to me.

4. Mixing your daily day cream in with your foundation. This isn't all that odd or unheard of. Whatever your skin concern is whether it be dull skin, blemish prone skin, dry skin or whichever, mix your cream in with your foundation. Your foundation will look sheerer and more natural and it will still cover what you want while the cream will help with whatever skin care issue you have. Another double the power option. My day cream of choice is The Body Shop Skin Clearing Lotion. This mattifies and helps with blemishes and makes my foundation look natural.

5. Two steps that have been drilled into everyones heads, I'm sure, is don't touch your face and drink water. I'm one to touch my face and if I feel a new pimple I will touch it and I'll pop it. My skin scars easy so I'm trying to not touch my skin or pop any pimples, just leave it to run its course. Water has helped my skin too. I don't think I drink 8 glasses a day or 2 litres but I do have my share of water that makes me go running to the bathroom a fair few times a day. Really water is the easiest and cheapest solution for skin.

So those are my "secrets" for my skin that I have found makes a difference for me. As I said a lot of them are optional and you have to know your skin properly before you can help it. So get studying on your skin and figure out what works for you.
As I'm sure you all know I got the Her Cocoa Palette last week and I've been playing around with it non stop. Its such a beautiful palette, I had trouble coming to grips with the fact that I actually had to disturb its beauty with my eyeshadow brush in order to actually use it. Now as said before (in this post) this is my first step into the world of Mac and boy is it a good 'un.

Now I am quite the eyeshadow nube and I tend to not over experiment with wild colours or anything like that. I stick to my nudes and I play it safe with the different looks you can create with an eyeshadow palette. First off let me say that the pigment is very strong and the shadows are easy to blend. They are very soft and not at all crumbly. The limited edition packaging does feel very special to me although I'm not mad over the pink aspect of it. I love all the colours and will definitely be getting a lot of use out of this.

For the look above I used the peachy shade all over my lid and the brown colour on the bottom left hand side blended into the corner of my eye and into the crease. This is my average eyeshadow look so nothing new here. The peachy shade is lovely as a base and highlighter for under the brow and in the inner corner of the eye. The brown colour I used above is my favourite colour out of the palette as it is pigmented but can be used very lightly and ahh its just a gorgeous, warm brown. I would wear this more in the day time as it is defined but very light and subtle.

The above look is still very similar to the first picture, just that I used the darkest shade on the bottom right hand side of the palette. I actually really like this look as it was a lot more defined as I smudged into my bottom lashes and in the outer corner of my eye and in the crease. I could easily wear this look at night time, I would just add a bit more dark shades to smoke it up.

Above I used that glittery gold colour all over my lid, the lighter brown on the bottom left in my crease and then the darker brown in the bottom right of the palette right in the outer corner of my eye and just under my bottom lashes. I actually liked this look because its subtle during the day and at night, all you do at night is make it darker and more dramatic to stand out. I didn't expect to like the gold shade as its really glittery but it actually mutes down to a nice shimmery, gold colour thats easy to wear. I do find though that the glitter from the gold has a lot of fall out so when I apply this, I use a tissue right under my eye so that the tissue collects the fall out rather than having to brush it off my eye. I also applied the gold right in the inner corner of my eye and spread it out, this made my eyes pop and look brighter and awake.

All in all I love this palette probably a little bit more than I should.
You'll find it interesting (if you are big into your perfume or even not) that Clarins actually formulated this perfume not just as a pretty, summer fragrance but to be worn in the sun safely. A lot of perfumes formulas have psoralens.
This ingredient interacts with the skin and can bring permanent change in pigmentation of your skins colour when worn in the sun. I for one know this as my mom has a "perfume pigment" on her chest and has always warned us to be careful. Clarins have taken out the psoralens even from the citrus ingredients and therfore make it safe for you to smell summery and be in the sun. Leave it to Clarins to do such a wonderful thing.

Another noteworthy, interesting thing about this perfume is that it is known as a "treatment fragrance" or a mood-shifter as the bottle promises to uplift, refresh and captivate and this is certainly not an exaggeration. It smells so airy, summery, invigorating and fresh. Its got citrus such grapefruit, lemon, orange and bergamot and floral scents like rose, mint and bay leaf and it has a garden, woodsy, beachy smell all in one. The mood uplifting scents are the essential oils of patchouli, vetiver and cedarwood. To be honest I'm not quite sure how it uplifts you but it really does. It automatically makes me happier and calmier maybe just because it reminds me of a beach and that could make me happy any day.

Clarins also added to the formula moisturising beech bud extract and radiance boosting sorbus bud extract. I'm really selling this perfume, aren't I? But truely, Clarins has paid careful attention to the formula making it safe and pretty. I do love the little bottle as well (obviously its sold in bigger spritz bottles) as it takes up no space in my handbag. The colour of the bottle is wonderful as well. Its red orange mixing into yellowish green although I think a blue green bottle would've worked better as its more beachy, but it still works for me.

Perfect for the summer weather coming soon. What is not to like? Clarins has nailed it properly.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-53824038328518073372013-12-09T09:53:00.000+02:002013-12-09T09:53:32.345+02:00Some Bedroom Changes

I've been wanting this change for about 6 months but I never found anything that I really loved and I was casually walking into Mr Price Home for a COMPLETELY different reason when I saw this duvet (R199). Its safe to say that I had to have it. Its just so beautiful and I love the colours and the birds and bird cages on it. I, of course, had to get two more cream pillowcases (R59) as those weren't part of the duvet set and I had to get a sheet (R99) to match, 2 sets of curtains (R99 for the one on special & R279 for the other set) and an inner (R199) for my duvet so its resulted in a lot of time spent matching up colours and making sure I had the right things. Two things were marked down and all in all it cost me about R900. Not bad. What's also great is that Mr Price Home has an online site now that you can order from the comfort of your own home and you get some stuff online that isn't usually in your store. The two long, small cushions were my mom's and if I'm not mistaken she got them from Mr Price Home too, although I have no idea how much they were.

I also got a very cute coffee/tea mug from Pick n Pay for like R10 - bargain! Its so pretty and I can easily say I think I like my creams and blues. I love my room now and I feel so much calmer and happier with it. Its funny what change can do. I think, as girls, we can all say that we've had many different rooms. Mine were from pink, to dolphin themed, to pink again and to crazy, wild colours. This room now definitely seems more grown up, calmer and more me. I'm happy.

I hope you enjoyed this post as it is quite different to what I usually write and I really enjoyed the change. While I am a little bit late to the party with this limited edition MAC ♥ RiRi palette, I had to get it. I fell inlove when I first saw it being raved about and then just at the right time the MAC South African online site was launched and you are able to order things online and its delivered within two days.

I am a bit of an eyeshadow nube to be honest. I just suck at doing the whole smokey eye or just blending eyeshadows together thing. I spend most of my makeup routine doing my eyes so I'm hoping this palette and brush will be the answer. Nevertheless I still love eyeshadow and am a firm believer that eyeshadow can do wonders.

This Her Cocoa palette is beautiful. I love my nude eyeshadows and this palette has a little bit of a somethin' somethin' to it with the glittery golds and beautiful browns. I couldn't ask for more in my first time MAC product. I'm definitely putting it to good use and will report back soon on different looks I've created with the palette and the much talked about 217 Brush (eek) and the quality, I just had to show this off first... I'm sure you understand.

To me summer is all about a smooth, soft, bronzed body thats (almost) beach body ready. These products that I've chosen have helped with getting a smooth and glowy body.
I chose The Body Shop Moringa Shower Gel and Body Scrub for this as they both have such a summery, floral fragrance that lingers on your skin for quite some time. The shower gel always makes me feel happier (cause of the scent), clean and fresh, the body scrub gets rid of dead skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and looks glowy. This also helps to smooth out my skin and makes my faux tan look more even. In steps the Plamers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Gradual Tanner. I really hate the smell of self tan and I hate that it makes you orange even if you've applied a little. This literally is gradual tanner and gives a subtle, bronzed look which can be built up for a darker bronze if desired. Like all Palmers products, it smells like chocolate which I don't actually like all that much but its a nice change from the original self tanner self.

The Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser is a new one for me but its love already. I am the laziest person when it comes to applying cream or lotion and I hate the feeling of cream on my skin because it feels slippery. This you apply after your shower gel or soap and you wash it straight off and your skin feels so soft and smooth. Its thicker than a normal lotion and has a hair conditioner feel to it and you can feel it moisturise your skin immediately. Its brilliant and smells so fresh and creamy.

Legs need to be hairless and smooth in my opinion, no matter how laborious it is. The razor I use is the Gilette Venus Pro Skin Blades. It has soapy, gel like bars on it so another plus for lazy people as you don't have to put on shaving cream. My legs always feel so soft and hairless as its such a close shave. I've repurchased these constantly. I think this will be my third pack and one razor lasts me about just under a month since I don't have to shave regularly.

Lastly is an anti perspirant. Summer is all about heat and having to worry about sweat and smelling funky shouldn't be on your list. The Dove Anti Perspirant is brilliant. It stops me from sweating and it smells so fresh and lovely. I can always catch a whiff of this stuff when I lift my arms up, its so creamy to apply and makes my underarms soft because of the 1/4 moisturising cream.

Those are my staple summer picks for body and they really do all work wonders. They are all work giving a look into.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-41603279108057091352013-12-03T08:51:00.000+02:002013-12-03T08:51:11.989+02:00November Favourites

Who would think that its already the 3rd of December already? This year has flown by at a highly fast pace, hardly even have time to blink without the months just whizzing by. With that said its time for another monthly favourites and it felt as if I had just put up my October favourites just last week.

First up is the L'oreal Elnett Satin Heat Protectant Styling Spray - R74.90. This particular spray helps to style your natural waves while protecting your hair from heat of various styling tools. This stuff smells great, almost perfume-y and leaves my hair so soft and manageable. It also says it helps against frizz but I don't find it helps my frizz all that much (my frizzies are like little fighters). While you can't tell if something is protecting your hair against heat, I still enjoy using this and hope it is protecting my hair to some extent.

Aussie Frizz Miracle Conditioner - R64.90. Now this is something that has helped my frizzy locks. While I still do have crazy flyaways, its not as bad and this has helped tame my hair. My hair in this humid, damp summer weather are CLEARLY not friends. I've used this so far everytime I've washed my hair and I'm due for another bottle of this awesomeness.

Onto to something for my skin (thats inevitable. I love skincare products.) that I feel has been helping blemishes and my skin is inlove with it; its The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion - R99. It has a serum feel to it and smells quite strong of tea tree. My skin just drinks this stuff up, I love it because it does mattify my skin and my blemishes really are reduced. I use this every night and for some reason I stopped using it a while ago, I'm glad I'm using it again and of course I'm due for another bottle of this soon. This is my night time love.

Two makeup products that made my favourites are two Catrice Cosmetics products. The one is the Catrice Made To Stay eyeshadow in 040 Lord of the Blings - R44.95. Its so creamy and easy to blend over the lid. Its not so glittery as it looks and gives such a lovely wash of golden colour. I find it stays on for such a long time with primer and without. A concealer that is GREAT for my dark under eye circles is the Catrice Re-Touch Light Reflecting Concealer in Light Biege - R39.90. Its a super hydrating concealer with light reflecting particles and comes in one of those twist pens with a brush applicator. It dries to a matte, natural finish and it doesn't really seem all that light reflecting to me but once it settles it has pretty good coverage, like medium coverage but buildable, and its seems like theres a little somethin' somethin' going on that makes it different to most concealers. Whatever it is its good and I use it everyday.

So those are my favourites for last montg and I hope December is a great month in beauty products.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09866481558816498998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7940170407494090368.post-41758303902510446132013-11-28T08:23:00.000+02:002013-11-28T08:23:31.147+02:00Catrice Absolute Nude Eyeshadow Palette

The Catrice Absolute Nude eyeshadow palette is such a tricky one for me to be honest. Don't get me wrong the colours are perfect for nude eyes and they are shimmery and matte but the pigment and crumbly-ness of the palette throws me a bit...

The pigment throws me a hell of a lot because what the colours look like in the palette and how they show up on skin are two completely different colours and its like the colours come from a different palette. The three colours that are true though are the first two on the left hand side and the colour labelled number 4. The two colours labelled 1 and 2 are a lot less pigmented than what it looks but I enjoy using both constantly as the one is great for a highlighter and the other is great for a barely there nude look. Number 3 is a beautiful copper matte-ish shade that I sometimes use all over my eye. Although in the palette it looks more of a light chocolate brown colour but I love the copper shade either way so no complaints from me. Number 4 to me should actually be in number 3's place if we're going from lightest to darkest but still a beautiful true colour.

Colours number 5 and 6... I shied away from these two for long. I literally didn't even swatch them because it scared me that much. They both look like very dark almost grey, green colours but when I finally swatched them (I had a brave moment) I was pleasantly surprised at the colours. No grey, green colours here! They are true brown colours with a copper hint running through 5. I am now happy to say that I use ALL colours offered and I must say I'm happier about the contrast of the colours in the palette to on your actual skin. They aren't harsh colours at all, they all work very well together to create a number of different looks and can be added on to create a darker smokey eye or just a subtle hint of eyeshadow. Very versatile palette.

My only drawback of this palette is that the eyeshadows are very crumbly which can result in fall out and you having eyeshadow flakes on your cheeks but I find that if you press your eyeshadow brush into the eyeshadow and tapping off the excess stops the crumbly-ness from becoming annoying. Rather don't brush your brush through it. All in all I do love this palette, even though I was taken aback by the colours once swatched but the colours turned out great for me.

They're easy but difficult to buy for because unlike girls, who have a unlimited wish list, men tend to have pretty much everything they could ever need/want. Most boys/men, I've noticed, have a lot of electronic equipment and lets face it some of them could use an extra pair of jeans instead of new Xbox games. I've put a more personal gift list for men together for you to use as a guide line for those men in your lives.
